Question:
Is mechanical energy conserved for an object that is in free-fall?
Learning Outcome:
Now that we measured the gravitational potential energy and kinetic energy of a tennis ball and golf ball, determine whether mechanical energy was conserved.

Your lab report will include the following
  • Title: on the front cover of your lab notebook and on the top of page 1
  • Purpose / Objective: states the purpose of the lab
  • Apparatus: list of materials used in the lab
  • Setup: a diagram of the setup
  • Procedure: the steps to recreate the lab
  • Data: clear and organized measurements made during the lab
  • Calculations: provide calculations in a neat and orderly outline form
  • Conclusion: completely answer the question using complete sentences
  • Discussion of Results: explanation of how the collected data provides support for the statement found in the conclusion; include an error analysis comparing your group's result to the class average
